You may be asking, “Why should I join the Friends of the Library?” Here are some reasons why you should consider joining:

--Have a say in what the library offers - Is there a specific type of program or need you’d like to see at the library? Of course we welcome your suggestions at any time, but as a Friends member, you can help secure the funding to make certain they happen.

--Meet your neighbors. Moneta is a small community, but you might not know everyone. By working closely with other Friends members you can meet new people and make lasting friendships.

-- Are you a Public Relations Pro, Fundraising Fanatic, or Web Master? All of these, and more could create a positive awareness of our library and bring many more programs and patrons into our doors!

--Make a Difference. Every Friends member makes a true difference in our daily efforts. By volunteering with us, you give back to your community in a tangible way. The satisfaction of funding a new project or bringing more patrons into the library is second to none.

For the Friends of Moneta/Smith Mountain Lake Library to remain viable for the coming years it needs your help. Not only does it need membership dues, it needs members who are interested in volunteering a few hours each month.

The Board of Directors meetings are held every second Thursday of the month at 9:30 am in the conference room at the library. 

Please join us - we are urgently looking for new members and officers in order to keep our organization viable.
