ABOUT
FRIENDS OF THE MONETA SMITH MOUNTAIN LAKE LIBRARY
The Friends of the Moneta/SML Library was formed in 1998 as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit Corporation. According to our by-laws, the purpose of our volunteer group shall be to promote the goals and needs of the Moneta/SML Library, a part of the Bedford Public Library System, and to insure that the benefits of said library be enjoyed by residents of the Moneta and Smith Mountain Lake communities and surrounding areas.
Our objective is to acquire funds through membership fees and fund raising efforts for the purpose of promoting the goals of the library and enhancements to benefit the library and its patrons.
WELCOME FROM THE LIBRARY AND THE FRIENDS OF THE MONETA/SML LIBRARY!
We are a small group of volunteers looking for more community members to join us in fulfilling our purpose to support the library financially with programs, books and supplies. Located in the library is our Used Book Sale Corner.
New selections added to the book corner weekly. Best selling authors and featured categories.

All proceeds benefit the library. Monies accepted at library check out desk. The corner is open during all library hours:
Monday- Wednesday, Friday, Saturday: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm.
Thursday: 10:00 am – 8:00 pm

2024 EVENTS
The SMAC Expo was held at Trinity Ecumenical on Saturday, May 11th. We had a good response and outreach. A very interesting event.

The Friends sponsored the initial plantings for the Marge Cooper & Lib Walker Memorial Garden. The Bedford Master Gardeners held a class in native plantings with children and adults from the community in April.
